Lehmann Maupin gallery in New York will be hosting an exhibition of the works of Lee Bul that will be on view from January 12, 2017 through February 11, 2017.Lee Bul is one of the leading Korean artist of her generation and this is her fifth appearance with the gallery. Born in the 1960s in South Korea, Lee Bul was deeply impacted by the period of social and economic upheaval marked by the transition from military dictatorship to a democratic state. This environment resulted in her multifaceted creative practice, which comprises numerous performance, sculpture, film, paintings, and installation, constantly expanding inquiry into the human condition. For this exhibition, Lee Bul will present a series of recent mixed media works and immersive installations, which are united in their exploration of structural systems despite the varied media and content - from the individual body to larger architectural frameworks that encompass cities and utopian societies - a signature of her oeuvre.The exhibition will be on view at Lehmann Maupin, 536 West 22nd Street, New York, NY 10011, USA.
