Galerie Fons Welters, Amsterdam, presents the exhibition “Berend Strik: Redefining Realness”, through January 7, 2017.The solo exhibition by Amsterdam-based artist Berend Strik (b. 1960) examines the relation between the creative space and the aesthetic views of several artists. Strik, who has been honored with a number of prestigious awards such as Elisabeth van Thuringen Prijs, 2015 and Charlotte Köhler Prize, 1990, among others, has over the years based his art on deciphering the artist studio.The works on display include reworked images that build on a photograph either made or found by Strik. The artist adds extra layers to the images by the use of techniques such as embroidering, stitching and appliquéing with velvet and transparent fabric.The exhibition is on view at Bloemstraat 140, 1016 lj Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
