“Outside The Lines: American Abstraction in the 20th Century,” an exhibition that examines the role of abstraction in 20th Century American art, is on show through October 8, 2016, at Hirschl & Adler Modern, New York. The exhibition looks at how abstraction in 20th century American art shaped a distinctly “American” artistic identity.This exhibition celebrates the gallery’s history of commitment to American abstraction in the 20th century. It allows viewers to draw connections and discover relationships between a broad group of artists and their individual styles and techniques. On display are about 30 works dating from the 1910s to the 1990s.
