Sotheby’s will present its first pop-up selling-exhibition in the Netherlands at its Amsterdam office from November 26 to December 9.Organized by Sotheby’s S│2 Contemporary art gallery, S|2 x NL will coincide with the fourth edition of Amsterdam Art Weekend.S|2 x NL will feature new paintings and sculpture by four young, emerging, rising stars of the international art scene: Matteo Callegari (b. 1979, Italy), Austin Lee (b. 1983, USA), Michael Manning (b. 1985, USA) and Rafaël Rozendaal (b. 1980, Netherlands).Curated by Nicholas Cinque of Sotheby’s, S|2 x NL will “highlight the developing role technology has to play in contemporary art” through Callegari’s digitally reconfigured Renaissance images, Manning’s touch-screen generated paintings, Lee’s digitally prepared canvases, and Rozendaal’s animated websites.“S|2 x NL will introduce some of today’s most exciting - and interesting - emerging artists to a brand new audience in the Netherlands,” said Sasha Stone, Specialist in Modern and Contemporary Art, Sotheby’s Amsterdam.“All proponents of technology and the creative possibilities it offers, they provide a glimpse into the future of artistic production.
