London’s David Roberts Art Foundation (DRAF) is celebrating its ongoing commitment to performance with the launch of a dedicated live projects space in a 250 sq m converted industrial loft within DRAF’s London building.The new space will be launched on September 24 with an opening party featuring commissioned performances by artist Alex Baczynski-Jenkins as well as the UK premiere of choreographer Stina Nyberg’s “Splendour,” 2014.DRAF has also announced the return of its celebrated annual Evening of Performances on October 15, 2015. The eighth edition will feature London-based artist Caroline Achaintre, Swiss choreographer and artist Alexandra Bachzetsis, German performance artist John Bock, Brooklyn- based electronic music act Light Asylum, and Glasgow artist and spoken word performer Sue Tompkins.Since it was founded in 2007, DRAF has championed performance by presenting live work by iconic international figures and commissioning performances by emerging artists.Previous DRAF live work artists include Phillip Glass, Rodney Graham, Pierre Huyghe, Sarah Lucas, Bruce McLean, Laure Prouvost, Steve Reich, Pipilotti Rist, Nina Beier, Keren Cytter, Michael Dean, Eloise Hawser, Lina Lapelyte, Maria Loboda, Eddie Peake, Megan Rooney, and Cally Spooner.DRAF was founded by the Scottish property developer and art collector David Roberts as an independent, non-profit space for contemporary art. Directed and curated by Vincent Honoré, the space presents an international program of exhibitions, commissions, live events, discussions, and projects.
