Marlborough Fine Art is showing new works by British artist Hughie O’Donoghue in an exhibition titled "Permanent Green."Primarily comprised of landscape paintings, "Permanent Green" includes 10 large-scale works that make up the body of the exhibition chronicling the countryside of County Mayo in West Ireland. O’Donoghue has regularly visited the area since his youth, a marked contrast between his home of urban Manchester and the natural backdrop of Mayo.According to Marlborough Fine Art, the exhibition explores the way we understand place, nature, and memory and how these ideas intersect, with the paintings acting as the artist’s sensory memorials to places half imagined and half real. “These paintings are a form of emotional archaeology, an unpeeling of memory and experience to uncover something that has left an indelible mark upon me,” said O’Donoghue. The exhibition marks O’Donoghue’s first exhibition focusing exclusively on the experience of place.Hughie O’Donoghue’s “Permanent Green” runs April 22 through June 9 at Marlborough Fine Art.
