“Emotional Architecture,” an exhibition featuring the works of American artist James Casebere (b. 1953) will run through March 11, 2017 at Sean Kelly Gallery, New York. This one-person exhibition by the artist, is his first in New York since 2010 and showcases a new body of works inspired by world-renowned Mexican architect Luis Barragán. It depicts the style of modernist architecture conceived by Barragán and the artist Mathias Goéritz who defied cold functionalism of Modernism and embraced space, color and light to create buildings that engendered warmth, meditation and reflection. Casebere uses color, dramatic light and simple surfaces coupled with his career-long interrogation of interior architectural spaces to create artworks. The exhibition is on view at Sean Kelly Gallery, 475 10th Ave, New York, NY 10018, USA.
