Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney is hosting an exhibition of works by Nyapanyapa Yunupingu through February 19, 2017. The exhibition features Nyapanyapa Yunupingu’s latest abstract and figurative works across various mediums. She stands out as one of the most celebrated Aboriginal artists with her extraordinary gift of storytelling. Her famous late sister Gulumbu Yunupingu painted stars, which referenced the seven sisters’ story, who went out in their canoe called Djulpan. Nyapanyapa is memorializing her deceased sisters Gulumbu, Barrupu and Djawundayngu in picking up the motif of stars in this latest exhibition.
