Anglim Gilbert Gallery is hosting “As the Crow Flies and Pliny’s Natural History of Jewels,” a solo exhibition of works by William Allan, on view through February 18, 2017.The influential California artist’s new Crow paintings, a series of 15 works on canvas using tar as the paint medium, is accompanied by displays of Allan’s painted lima beans, “Pliny’s Natural History of Jewels.” Allan has painted lima beans, organizing them into collections, since the early 1970s.Allan works in multiple media: drawing, painting, assemblage sculpture and film. His skillful writings have been published and have accompanied his works on view.
