Paintings by Belgium artist trio Leo Gabin (consisting of Lieven Deconinck, Gaëtan Begerem, and Robin De Vooght) are on display at VNH Gallery through an exhibition titled “Hurt So Good.” The exhibition will run from January 27 to February 25, 2017.Leo Gabin’s works here are about change; a break-up and the problems and feelings and struggle that come after. It is difficult for the apparent lead character to see his love of two-and-a-half years leave one day, suddenly, with his best friend’s girlfriend. She feels betrayed and shattered, and weak in confrontation with yet another big swing that life is going to take. It is also about expressing these emotions to others, and how difficult that can be in the social-media era. All of these emotions become the foundations of individual paintings. The character finds herself doing things she never expected, like crying at work, which she strongly felt she wouldn’t as that is the one place she can be numbed, in a way. But there’s another question that bothers her; how much do people, her followers, her friends really care about something that is so devastating for her? Do they really want to listen? After all, everybody has problems. The exhibition is on view at VNH Gallery, 108 rue Vieille du Temple 75003 Paris. For details, visit: www.vnhgallery.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition.
