‘The Written Word’ at Fountain House Gallery

“The Written Word,” on at Fountain House Gallery till March 1, 2017, represents artists living with mental illness. It showcases artworks inspired by literary classics by authors including Emily Brontë, Ernest Hemingway, George Orwell, Edgar Allan Poe, Ayn Rand, and Arthur Rimbaud. The more than 50 pieces in the exhibition have been made on wood blocks of uniform size, displayed like book covers on the gallery’s walls. Among the mediums represented are collage, mixed media, acrylic and watercolor painting, and digital photography.
