Zilberman Gallery presents the works of London-based Iraqi-Kurdish artist Walid Siti (born 1954) titled 'The Black Tower' from January 14 through February 25, 2017 in Berlin. The artist’s oeuvre is defined by a subtle, almost understated, poetics and politics of form. Sub-texts of repression and conflict mingled with the human capacity for resilience in the face of hardship is what drives his practice. Although ‘The Black Tower’ is a sombre statement in sobering times, Siti presents us with a ladder, a staircase, a thing of beauty and of the imagination, as a way out of the bleakness. His sketches throw light on his artistic thinking process while revealing the grammar of his visual language. The exhibition is on view at Zilberman Gallery, Goethestraße 82, 10623 Berlin, Germany.
