An exhibition tracing the history of Beau Geste Press will be hosted at CAPC muse d’art contemporain, Bordeaux from February 2 through May 28, 2017.Beau Geste Press (BGP) was founded in 1971 by the pair of Mexican artists Martha Hellion and Felipe Ehrenberg a few years after they left their country in the foul-smelling political context that preceded the Olympics in Mexico City in 1968. Settled on a farm in Devon in the English countryside with their two children and a few friends, including the artist and historian of English art David Mayor, they founded a "community of duplicators, printers and craftsmen". The exhibition traces the history of Beau Geste Press through the 75 books that its founding members and their guests or occasional visitors - the press having worked on the principle of "artists' residency" before the letter - succeeded in publishing Five years of its existence.
