‘Adrian Paci/Giuliana Racco: Another Place’ at Frith Street Gallery, London

Frith Street Gallery, London, is hosting  an exhibition, 'Another Place', with artists Adrian Paci and Giuliana Racco. The exhibition will be on view from January 19, 2017 through April 13, 2017.The title “Another Place” is taken from a film by Racco, whose research focuses on migration and other forms of individual and collective movement across territories. The exhibition has on view a series of water-colour drawings by Adrian Paci, which originated from a variety of moving-image sources such as Youtube clips and publicly accessible videos. Some works depict unknown groups of bathers and swimmers, as well as stills from films by artist Derek Jarman, whilst others are taken from clips of Albanian Army training videos. The viewers will get a chance to watch Giuliana Racco’s black and white film Mezomaro, which means ‘Mediterranean’ in Esperanto. The work combines animated chalk drawings, photographs, newspaper clippings and archival images to explore ideas of mobility and citizenship, poetically expanding current global situations to the history of people and geography over time.Adrian Paci was born in 1969 in Shkodra, Albania. He studied painting at the Academy of Art of Tirana. In 1997 he moved to Milan where he lives and works. Giuliana Racco was born in 1976 in Toronto, Canada. She graduated in Visual Arts from the IUAV University in Venice. The exhibition is on view at Frith Street Gallery, 17-18 Golden Square, London W1F 9JJ.
