Pi Artworks, London, presents the exhibition “American Histories” through January 7, 2017.The exhibition curated by Alexandra Schwartz is a part of Pi Artworks London’s Curatorial Season and brings together nine U.S.-based artists who examine cultural histories through figurative works on paper. The presentation scrutinizes how the artists with diverse heritage and cultural affiliations synthesize the theme with a personal perspective. The artwork subtly draws attention to cultural differences and their recent consequences, which surfaced in the form of the European refugee crisis, during the U.S. presidential election and in numerous other events globally. The artists featured include Kenseth Armstead, Firelei Báez, Maria Berrio, Chitra Ganesh, Fay Ku, Lina Puerta, Frohawk Two Feathers, William Villalongo and Saya Woolfalk.The exhibition is on view at Pi Artworks, 55 Eastcastle Street, London, W1W 8EG.
