Grey Noise, Dubai, presents the exhibition “Solar Flare, Always Red” through January 7, 2017.The exhibition illustrates the contemporary narratives of class, ultra luxury and consumer culture in the Arabian Gulf region, as viewed by Dubai-based artist Raja’a Khalid. The works are based on the mythologies of power, the aesthetics of consumerism and economies of desire in the Gulf from 1984 till present. Khalid, who has bagged a number of awards and recognitions, including the NYU Abu Dhabi FIND Research Fellowship, 2014 and the Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen International Fellowship for Art and Theory among others, subtly examines the notions of wealth, masculinity, game, athleticism, desire and crypto-religiosity in the Gulf. The exhibition is on view at Grey Noise, Unit 24, Alserkal Avenue, Street 8, Al Quoz 1, Exit 43 - SZR, Dubai, UAE.
