Galerie Lelong in New York is hosting an exhibition titled ‘Further Evidence- Exhibit B’ which will be on view through December 3, 2016.The exhibition is one part of the two-part solo exhibition by New York based artist Carolee Schneemann- ‘Further Evidence - Exhibit A’ and ‘Further Evidence - Exhibit B’, presented in collaboration between Galerie Lelong and P.P.O.W gallery in Manhattan. Taking Carolee Schneemann’s research on both the physical and metaphorical manifestations of the body as its starting point, the exhibition fuse together the artist’s critical yet lesser-known works from the 1980s, 1990s, and the present. Both presentations of this exhibition pivot on the representation of bodies in captivity and visualizations of repressed histories of control and confinement. Though Schneemann’s works from the 1960s and 1970s involving performance and the body received wide exposures, but her later works have not achieved the same critical attention. The dual-presentations of this exhibition present a crucial selection of these works, primarily focussing on the artist’s large-scale, multi-media installations that incorporate her research, installations, film, and video.The exhibition is on view at Galerie Lelong, 528 West 26th Street, New York, NY 10001, USA.
