Gallery 60Six, San Francisco, is hosting an exhibition of Jürgen Trautwein’s paintings “Old Family Linen and the Endurance of Folds” that will be on view from November 12, 2016 through January 2017.On display are beautifully executed reversible paintings on antique family linen, some of the linen nearly 150 years old. Trautwein has dedicated the OFL series to all mothers, claiming the paintings honor all mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and ancestors who kept their linen carefully and meticulously. There is a sense of history within the folds of the material “radiating invisible traces of love, joy, birth, suffering and death,” says Trautwein. His work has a quite, meditative quality with occasional painted patterns of dots and stripes. The exhibition is on view at the 60SIX Annex, 12 Elgin Park, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA.
