Benrubi Gallery in New York is hosting an exhibition “Manhattan Sunday” by Richard Renaldi that will be on view through December 23, 2016.The exhibition is a photographic diary by New York based artist Richard Renaldi since 2010, capturing the visuals of Manhattan in the early hours of Sunday mornings, usually after a night out in the town. If hedonism informs these images of the bare skins and muscled bodies in many of the portraits, or the disco balls and bottles of poppers in their still lives, it’s a sensuality tampered by reflection. The faces are blissed out after a long night of clubbing, and the black and white monochrome lends a certain coolness to these scenes, merging the day with night, while several long exposers captures the euphoria of the club experience, but also its transience. The exhibition is on view at Benrubi Gallery, 521 West 26th Street, New York, NY 10001, USA.
