'The World of Nivkh' at The State Russian Museum

The State Russian Museum presents the exhibition “The World of Nivkh” by various artists, which will be on view from November 30, 2016 through March 1, 2017.“The World of Nivkh” opens up the culture of one of the oldest indigenous people from northern Russia. The ethnic name ‘nivkh’ means ‘person’ in the Nivkh Language. The people of this small nationality are direct descendants of the ancient population of Sakhalin and the Lower Amur. The decorative and applied art of the Nivkh people has deep roots in folk art and keeps elements of local folklore, ornament and traditional color scale. The exhibition is supported by Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. The exhibition is on view at The State Russian Museum, The Stroganov Palace, 17 Nevsky Prospekt, St. Petersburg.
