A solo exhibition, titled 'Lerato', of artist Meleko Mokgosi is on view at Jack Shainman Gallery, New York, and will run through October 22, 2016.Meleko Mokgosi works within an interdisciplinary framework to create large-scale project-based installations. 'Lerato' was created over two years around ideas of allegory and love in which the artist used William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s paintings as a compositional case study. 'Lerato' is one of the two chapters from Democratic Intuition, a body of work by the artist. The artist's aims to experiment with visual and narrative strategies that do not depend on sequential expectations.
