Lawrence Alkin Gallery, London, is hosting an exhibition '10 Years Later' by Ryan Callanan, on view through October 29, 2016.The exhibition presents a series of brand new works by Ryan Callanan, which represents a transition of a new era for the artist, and at the same time offers a retrospective interpretation of his familiar works. While the show refers to the works he had produced before, it is majorly dominated by new pieces, offering a glimpse into the future direction of his works. For the past decade, Callanan has work relentlessly as an artist and a printmaker, harnessing new techniques learned during his career as a sign maker. His use of pop iconography and lyric-based work has garnered wide appeal among the collectors. He has been recognized for creating 3D works using smiley faces synonymous with acid house rave culture from the 80s and 90s. The exhibition takes the 3D pieces the artist had previously created and inverts them into abstract convex works. '10 Years Later' features around 25 artworks, ranging from 90mm to 1200mm in size in a variety of medium including gold leaf, gloss paint, timber, foam, acrylic and fiberglass. The exhibition is on view at Lawrence Alkin Gallery, 42 New Compton Street, London WC2H 8DA, United Kingdom.
