The National Gallery of Victoria International, Melbourne is hosting the first large-scale exhibition devoted exclusively to porcelain sculpture titled 'Eighteenth-century Porcelain Sculpture' which will run through December 16, 2016.The exhibition features more than 70 works from permanent collections. Interestingly, the subjects of these exquisite sculptures are largely mythological and allegorical. They featured prominently in the richly symbolic visual culture of the Baroque court, especially Central Europe. Curators, academics and historians participating in the exhibition are providing unique insights into the 18th-century porcelain sculptures on display. The exhibition is on view at National Gallery of Victoria International, 180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne VIC 3006, Australia.
