Scholten Japanese Art will be hosting “Strike a Pose: Spectacular Imagery of the Kabuki Theater” during the autumn Asia week in New York from September 8-16, 2016.The exhibition will display an array of imagery related to Japan’s Kabuki Theater. Forty Ukiyo-e woodblock prints will portray popular actors with lavish costumes on as well as off stage. The majority of the prints will be by the most prolific Kabuki artist of the 19th century, Utagawa Kunisada. An online exhibition will also be posted prior to the opening.
