Ameringer | McEnery | Yohe will host an exhibition of the works of Iva Gueorguieva from September 8 through October 8, 2016, in New York.Iva Gueorguieva is known for her notions of space, seeing and illusion in her works. Her paintings contain countless layers of collage that exhibit an abundance of dynamic energy. She paints, stains and cuts the paper and fabric placed on her studio floor into shapes before putting them on canvas. For the artist, the collage disintegrates the illusionistic pattern of the painting, while the brushstroke restores that lost illusion. Her works in sculptures also depict her wonderment over space as she attempts to play with edge and the illusion of the edge. Her sculptures are made of simple materials, such as wood and dead Joshua tree fragments, which are later cast in concrete and represent the density of her visual journeys.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition
