“Labyrinth(s),” an exhibition featuring artworks by eight contemporary artists, is at Pearl Lam Galleries Hong Kong till September 1.The title of the exhibition bears a reference to Jorge Luis Borges’s famous short story, "The Garden of Forking Paths." The artists individually explore the potential of their medium, and form metaphorical labyrinths with their artistic languages to find the notion of infiniteness. The various mediums employed by the artists leave an open-ended perception for the viewers about the real form of these artworks — whether they are paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations, or hybrid fusions. Meanwhile, the artists also explore the inner labyrinths of the materials, the connections between reality and abstraction, and the politics of religion, identity and pop culture, creating a visual extravaganza for the viewers. The featured artists are Leonardo Drew, Golnaz Fathi, Gonkar Gyatso, Ni Haifeng, Peter Peri, Kour Pour, Gatot Pujiarto, and Ben Quilty.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition.
