Artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset sat down with ARTINFO on the occasion of their exhibition, titled “Past Tomorrow,” at Galerie Perrotin in New York. The show stages the fictional Upper East Side bedroom of an enigmatic character, Norman Swann, first introduced at the pair’s 2013 exhibition “Tomorrow” at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Combining period details with contemporary contextual clues, the show, which is accompanied by a small book, explores themes of utopia, change, and stagnation through the character of Swann, a failed architect and lapsed aristocrat.
