The Folia Gallery, Paris, is presenting the first exhibition in Europe dedicated to Chinese photographer Liu Tao. Titled 'Enwilding the world', the exhibition will run from February 3 to March 30, 2017.Through a selection of works from three major series of the artist, 'A Weak Road' (2012), 'Hungry Beijing' (2013) and 'Shanghai Tian Wai' (2014), the exhibition reflects a unique photographic journey that places man and bodily experience at the centre of his questions. If the photographic writing of Lui Tao is eminently personal, it is rich in a multiple inheritance. The three series presented here, of varied aesthetics and aspiration, reveal a polymorphous work that tries to unite all the opposites of life: the solitude of the great spaces and the mob of the suburbs of Shanghai. The original nudity and the abundance of street scenes; the attraction towards the memory of men and the aspiration to become. The exhibited photographs, of great artistic quality, also have a documentary scope. It is about embodying the renewal of man and the world, questioning his place in a changing country, but above all inscribing an immense commitment to freedom. The exhibition is on view Galerie Folia, 13 rue de l'Abbaye, 75006 Paris.
