Joëlle Tuerlinckx's (born 1958, Brussels) “Les Salons Paléolithiques” is on view at Galerie Nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder till February 25, 2017 in Vienna. The beginning point of this exhibition is the negative print of a hand from a cave painting in Pech Merle (southwest France), of which there is a copy in Tuerlinckx’s personal archive. This “Paleolithic hand,” which was made around 15,000 years BCE, establishes Tuerlinckx’s mental timeline and resonates with archaic elements and the importance of the hand and handiwork. Tuerlinckx is an archivist with a real poetic power of association that reactivates as is often the case in dreams – old objects. And in this way restores the equilibrium of the value of things. The exhibition is on view at Galerie Nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder, Vienna Grünangergasse 1, 1010 Wien, Austria. For details, visit: http://www.schwarzwaelder.atClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition.
