Bureau contemporary art gallery in New York is hosting an exhibition titled “AAa:Quien” by artists Erica Baum and Libby Rothfeld that will be on view through February 5, 2017.This two-person exhibition featuring New York based artists Erica Baum (b. 1961) and Libby Rothfeld (b. 1990, New Brunswick, New Jersey) explores the instability of language with the social world. Against the backdrop of America’s current political scenarios, these two artists intimate the shifting nature and partial legibility of language through material and image, rendering a sense of melancholy over absent truths and selves. Erica Baum’s work ‘Blackboards’- photographs that capture the after-hours at Yale University classrooms depicting the erasure of language in the space of knowledge production, while Libby Rothfeld’s sculptural objects represent a social world in which language fails to express unmediated reality, including the perceived true feelings of a subject. The exhibition is on view at Bureau, 178 Norfolk Street, New York, NY 10002, USA.
