It's an ode to summer and the beach at "BATHERS," a summer-themed group show featuring 13 young, emerging painters and sculptors at Morgan Lehman Gallery.
The exhibit asks: What if Picasso had had an Instagram feed? Many of these artists are friends or lovers. In preparation for the show, they visit each other’s studios regularly, often engaging in conversations about their work and the modernists that came before them. Through their pieces, they seek to explore a dialogue between the honored art history motif and the contemporary approach to their creations.
Artists, Ryan Schneider, Melissa Brown, and Shara Huges shared with Blouin ARTINFO their process in creating these and working in cohesion for the exhibit.
The exhibit runs from now till August 23rd and also features Nina Chanel Abney, Gina Beavers, Benjamin Degen, Austin Eddy, Ted Gahl, Hope Gangloff, Jackie Gendel, Daniel Heidkamp, Ryan Kitson, and Ruby Sky Stiler.
