Last chance to visit Martine Aboucaya Gallery’s seventh solo exhibition by artists Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain titled “Letter Pieces (On the Revolutions).” The exhibition ends January 14, 2017.From the book of Nicolas Copernicus (1473-1543) On the Revolutions of the Celestial Orbs, artists propose their version of the representation of the solar system with the installation “Revolutions,” a sound piece inspired by the scales of this system whose structure is made visible by an animation: each line of light corresponds to the distance of the planets to the sun – Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. A sound is assigned to each distance, from the sharpest to the most serious and from the nearest to the furthest. Sounds exist when the planets intersect, and each of the planets has its own revolution. Through this work of scales, sounds and images, Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain transform the celestial mechanics into a sound machine, fueled by the different times of space. The exhibition is on view at Galerie Martine Aboucaya, 5 Rue Sainte-Anastase, 75003 Paris. For details, visit: http://www.martineaboucaya.com/angela-detanico-rafael-lain-letter-pieces-on-the-revolutions/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition.
