'Painkillers' by Joanna Rajkowska will be up for viewing at the Rampa Gallery, Istanbul, from January 19 to February 17, 2017.This exhibition will supplement the artist's previous works furthering her specific exploration of ideas around warfare, censorship, and pharmaceuticals, and the many ways these all seem to corruptly coalesce.‘Painkillers,’ epynomously named after her sculpture series—Painkillers I & II, from 2014-15—includes video, sculpture, and neon works dating from 2014 till today. In Painkillers I & II Rajkowska recreated life-sized and life-like weapons using powdered analgesic. In using actual medical materials to create these objects, the clean, pristine and white weapons literalized the paradox of the capitalist world. The exhibition will be on view at Şair Nedim Caddesi No: 21a, Akaretler 34357 Besiktas, Istanbul, Turkey.
