Last chance to visit American artist Robert Rauschenberg’s “Salvage” series of paintings being exhibited by Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac at their gallery in Malais, Paris. The exhibition ends January 14, 2017.The series was Rauschenberg’s last series on canvas created between 1983-85. The canvases are painted upon and silkscreened with photographs either collected in magazines or taken by the artist himself. Topics and compositions from his iconic “Silkscreen Paintings” from the early 1960s are referred to in the exhibited works. Although the exact meaning of the title remains ambiguous, Rauschenberg plays on the literal and implied interpretations of the word, spreading hints for both across the paintings.
