303 Gallery, New York presents Matt Johnson’s new wood sculptures, on view from January 12, 2017 through February 25, 2017.Matt Johnson has exhibited widely in international venues and for this event he has on display a selection of sculptures in carved, bent, and painted wood. The objects depicted in his new works are the discarded matter of art studios or building sites, whose forms are the result of usage and discarding. But these crumpled cardboard boxes, shards of cut drywall, a discarded cup, pizza box and rolls of blue painter’s tape take on a different form under his expert hands.
