“The Bianwen Book I” by Chen Chieh-jen is on view at Lin & Lin Gallery, in Taipei City, through January 15, 2017.In this exhibition, Chen Chieh-jen presents multi-media artworks that are reassembled from 10 years of his work. As the Buddhist religion spread to China from India, the teachings of the religion were dispersed using sutras and bianwen texts, which became very popular. Drawing inspiration from the multi-platform quality and adaptability of bianwen, Chen has brought together 10 years’ of his storyboards for video artwork, film clips, symbolic item, documentary photographs, and temporary screening venues, all of which together forms an installation titled “The Bianwen Book I.” This installation showcases a contemporary blend of painting, writing, video, installation film and theater sets and art.The event is on view at 1F, No. 16, Dongfeng St., Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan.For details, visit http://www.linlingallery.com/eng/exhibition-d.php?id=259Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the event
