The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) is hosting Hao Liang’s “Eight Views of Xiaoxiang” at the Central Gallery through January 8, 2017.This is Hao Liang’s first solo show wherein he presents eight landscapes in traditional Chinese style created in ink on silk. His paintings are inspired from literature, Chinese antiquity, and aesthetics. He attempts to revive the genre by integrating it with modern sensibilities and establishing a dialogue with the heritage. In this exhibition, Hao Liang’s paintings not only explore the geographical beauty of Xiaoxiang but also reinterprets it with a modern eye and contemporary cultural references.
