Whitestone Gallery, Hong Kong, is hosting Yuji Kanamaru’s solo exhibition through January 8, 2017.An aspiring artist from Japan, Yuji Kanamaru creates interestingly textured and three-dimensional art using mixed media. Although at first glance, his work may appear simple and not very detailed, on closer look, one will notice the multiple layers it contains. The distinct imagery and colors he uses create a dream-like scene with everyday motifs of urban streets, animals, and plants combined intricately with newspaper clippings, vivid colors, and burlap collage. He uses his personal experiences to bring his memories to life in a visually stimulating and warm manner.
