Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle in Berlin presents ‘Bird Song’ by Kemang Wa Lehuelere from March 24, 2017 through June 18, 2017.Kemang Wa Lehulere, born in Cape Town, is Deutsche Bank's new "Artist of the Year". The exhibition is the South African artist’s first institutional solo exhibition in Germany and Lehulere is presenting his repertoire of performances, videos, installations and chalk drawings. Lehulere’s works often focus on black South African history, re-examining and re-imagining the host of narratives connected with black artists, musicians and authors. Essentially he attempts to prevent the stories of their lives and traces of their work being forgotten by history. In 2015, he received the Standard Bank Young Artist for the visual arts.
