An exhibition of works by Sadie Benning titled “Shared Eye” opens at The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago on November 19, 2016, and will be on show through January 22, 2017.This new installation by the Brooklyn-based artist, which consists of 40 panels that have been cut and reassembled, comments on the complexities of representation intrinsic in image-based communication. Benning, a graduate of the Milton Avery School of Art at Bard College, explores the idea of sight as a shared art constructed by a spectrum of individual, conflicting components through a series of digital photographs, found objects, sculptural reliefs and painted elements. Curated by Solveig Øvstebø, the exhibition provides a broken narrative, inviting viewers to create their own links or leave their questions unresolved.“Sadie Benning: Shared Eye” is on view at The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, Cobb Hall, 4th Floor, 5811 South Ellis Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60637For details, visit: www.renaissancesociety.orgClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition
