An exhibition of works by Australian Impressionists opens at the National Gallery in London on December 7, 2016, and runs through March 26, 2017.The show, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, focuses primarily on the luminous vistas depicted by four of Australia’s Impressionist painters: Tom Roberts, Charles Conder, Arthur Streeton and John Russell. From images of bustling urban streets to panoramic views of bushlands and shores, the exhibition illustrates the growing sense of national identity of Her Majesty’s Australian subjects at the turn of the 19th century while presenting Impressionism as a global phenomenon that continued to transform itself as it traveled through the Western world.“Australia’s Impressionists” is on display at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DNFor details, visit: www.nationalgallery.org.ukClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition
