Arthouse Gallery, New South Wales, is hosting Peter Simpson’s landscape paintings in an exhibition, titled 'Water Through Trees', on view till November 19, 2016.Peter Simpson’s immersive landscape paintings reveal an oft-overlooked atmosphere, a picture of an everyday sight that radiates a majestic beauty. The paintings are a journey that began with a chance sighting of North Head from the back seat of a taxi on a late summer’s afternoon. The seductive beauty of the scene compelled the artist to create the first work in the series. And thus began his quest around the Sydney harbour in search of this initial impression he felt of the poetry of the Australian shoreline, his canvas recording all the intricate details and visuals. The works are a superb log of Simpson’s conquest to capture the elusive soul of the Australian environment. The exhibition is on view at Arthouse Gallery, 66 McLachlan Avenue, Rushcutters Bay NSW 2011.
