Hunan-born artist Zhang Zhenyu’s first solo exhibition at Richard Koh Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, titled 'Dust', is currently on view through November 18, 2016.Zhang Zhenyu graduated from Central Academy of Fine Art, Beijing, and continues to live and work from there. Zhang uses simple or even a single expression to convert modest materials into conceptual carriers in his works. The artist meticulously glues the dust taken from city streets onto the canvas and constructs them through layering. Finally he would grind the surface until a smooth polished reflective finish is achieved and a smoky image is fabricated.
