“Further Evidence - Exhibit A,” a new exhibition by artist Carolee Schneemann will run through December 21, 2016 at P.P.O.W gallery, New York. The show features the rarely seen installation by the artist ‘Known/Unknown: Plague Column (1995-6),’ which combines collage, sculptures, wall texts, photographs, and video. The title refers to the Viennese plague column wherein the Bubonic plague is represented as a witch and the victory over the disease as a way of vanquishing unruly and malignant femininity. Schneemann’s ‘Fresh Blood- A Dream Morphology’ is also on view at the gallery. The images narrate the morphological vocabularies that originate in dreams. In the artist’s case, it is composed of a visual vocabulary of related V forms. The exhibition is on view at P.P.O.W Gallery, 535 W 22nd St, New York, NY 10011.
