Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna, is hosting an exhibition titled 'A Duck and a Crutch' by Los-Angeles based artist Jannis Varelas. It will be on view through November 19, 2016.The exhibition has been divided into three sections that define a path through space and time. The first part features painting, sculpture, and performance all the while dealing with the notion of lack of trust. An ongoing action highlights the second part of the show. A pear, a strawberry, and a cupcake are playacted by three performers who are continuously drawing their portraits. Each character portrays alienation and individual oblivion and chafes for self-awareness.Four large-format paintings forms the third and final part. They create an anthropomorphic depiction and bring back the concept of the archetype as it has been explored in previous works.The exhibition is on view at Galerie Krinzinger, Seilerstätte 16, 1010 Wien, Austria.
