“From the Transcendental Painting Group to the Taos Moderns: Florence Miller Pierce and Beatrice Mandelman” will run from September 30 through December 16, 2016, at Addison Rowe Gallery, Santa Fe.The exhibition features the artworks of American Modernists Beatrice Mandelman (1912-1998) and Florence Miller Pierce (1918 – 2007). Both artists played very different roles in the New Mexico art scene. Well-known in New Mexico, Pierce was awarded the Governor’s award for Excellence in the arts in 2003. Beatrice Mandelman was determined to be an artist from a young age and almost never put down her paintbrush from her first art class at the age of 12 until her death at the age of 80. The arrival of her husband and Mandelman sparked the formation of a new art collective that would come to be known as the Taos Moderns.Opening reception will be held on September 30th, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM.The exhibition is on view at Addison Rowe Gallery, 229 E Marcy St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
