Pro Arts Gallery, Oakland, presents the exhibition 'Songs for Women Living with War'. It will run from October 8 through November 12, 2016. Songs for Women Living with War / Bahay ni Lola / House of the Grandmothers is a poignant “living memorial” and anti-war monument dedicated to mothers and children who bear the effects of war. The prototype Global Public Monument for Women is the creation of artist Johanna Poethig. Curated by Johanna Poethig,'Songs for Women Living with War' offers a platform for the visual arts, performances and information that were part of the installation. This installation or prototype memorial is built from three walls that form an open house structure that bear traditional acrchitectural elements of the Philippine nipa huts. The exhibition is on view at Pro Art Gallery, 150 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland CA 94612. For details, visit, www.proartsgallery.orgClick on the Slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
