“The Present Embracing the Past,” an exhibition featuring the artwork of three Korean artists, will be on show through October 5, 2016, at Art Mora, New York. This is a group exhibition showcasing the works of Meesook Lee, Kwang Young Chun, and Hyemin Lee.The artworks in the exhibition examine the tethering of working with materials that are infused with personal and cultural meaning. Hyemin Lee uses pieces of old dresses and transforms them into art objects that remind the viewer of the feminine world in a materialistic age where everything is disposable. Kwang Young Chun’s work uses very old mulberry paper from Korean texts that are intricately folded and vibrantly colored to resemble a textural landscape.
