ClampArt, New York will be hosting an exhibition “The Secret Lives of Buildings” by Marc Yankus that will be on view from October 13 through November 26, 2016. The exhibition will be the Ameriacn artist’s fifth solo show at ClampArt, and the inaugural exhibition of the gallery’s new space in the Flower District of Manhattan. The show will present Marc Yankus’s latest series of portraits of New York City buildings. These new images balance on the line between documentary and fiction. Through this series, he captures the city’s architecture in moments of stillness, where there is no car or people in the frames. This sense of serenity provides elegance to the structures, in both majestic yet humble way. Marc Yankus presents these historical buildings to be experienced with a fresh perspective, offering an idealized and even utopian version of the past, while the other buildings are seen through a lens of potential. Although in other scenes, the decay of crumbling concrete, chipped-away paint paradoxically creates a sense of nostalgia. The exhibition will be on view at the new space of ClampArt, 247 West 29th Street, New York, NY 10001, United States.
