Sargent’s Daughters in New York is hosting an exhibition titled “Nightshift” featuring works by English artist David Harrison that will on view through October 16, 2016.London-based artist David Harrison draws on both natural and urban themes. The exhibition presents the artist’s unique narrative, in which the mutability of reality appears in a stark way. In his paintings, animals morph into human under the moonlight, while humans turn into augmented creatures under the knife of a surgeon. In his artistic portrayals, love, death and rebirth constantly circle around us. The threshold between one world to another becomes least substantial at night, when people and animals transform into otherworldly creatures. His work “Stalked Men” creates an atmosphere of predatory sexuality, while “Cosmic Witches” represents the banal beauty of plastic transformation. Death and sex are never far from each other in his works, in which repulsive objects can often appear beautiful. The exhibition is on view at Sargent’s Daughters, 179 East Broadway, New York, NY 10002, United States.
